How to refer

One email is enough

  1. Send the referralEmail surgery@drleokim.com.au with your referral letter. For skin cancer work, clinical photographs of the lesion or defect (with site and approximate size) are genuinely valuable and speed up triage — please attach them as standard if you can.
  2. AcknowledgmentYour referral is acknowledged promptly so you know it has landed, with any questions asked up front rather than on the day.
  3. ConsultationPatients are offered a consultation promptly — in person in Sydney CBD or North Sydney, or by video where clinically appropriate, which many patients find easier before surgery is planned.
  4. The loop closesYou receive correspondence after consultation and after surgery. Your patient returns to you informed, repaired, and followed through to scar maturity.

Post-Mohs coordination

Same-day where possible

For Mohs cases, the ideal sequence is a reconstruction consultation before the Mohs procedure, so repair is planned and booked before the defect exists. Where that isn't practical, a dressed Mohs wound is safe overnight — send the anticipated defect site, size and preferred timing and the two practices coordinate directly so the patient is never left organising their own operation with an open wound. More detail for patients: what happens after Mohs surgery.

Common questions

Questions patients ask

What should the referral include?

Your referral letter, relevant history (anticoagulants, immunosuppression, previous skin cancers), pathology if available, and ideally clinical photographs with the site and approximate size of the lesion or defect.

How quickly are urgent post-Mohs patients seen?

Urgent facial defects are accommodated wherever possible, including same-day repair. Email with the anticipated defect details and preferred timing and you will get a fast answer.

Do you offer video consultations?

Yes — initial consultations can be conducted by video where clinically appropriate, with in-person consultation in Sydney CBD or North Sydney whenever examination requires it or the patient prefers.

Will I get correspondence back?

Yes — after consultation and after surgery, with follow-up arrangements made clear. The referring doctor stays in the loop throughout.
